PERAK MSN PIONEERS COUNTRY'S FIRST HYDROTHERAPY POOL FOR ATHLETES - EXCO

IPOH, April 9 (Bernama) -- A total of RM1.92 million has been allocated for the construction of a hydrotherapy pool in Perak, which plays a crucial role in aiding the recovery process of athletes, and enhancing their performance to optimal levels.

State Education, Higher Education, Youth, and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah said the facility, built in January last year and completed in February this year, is the first of its kind to be established at the State Sports Council (MSN) level, nationwide.

He added that the project was made possible through collaboration between the Perak State Finance Office, the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), the Public Works Department (JKR), and several other related agencies.

“This facility serves two essential functions: hot and cold pools, which expedite athletes' recovery and enhance their performance to optimal levels.

“Additionally, it helps alleviate joint pressure, and is ideal for athletes undergoing treatment and recovery,” he said during the opening ceremony of the Perak MSN Hydrotherapy Pool and the presentation of grants to state-level associations, today. The event was attended by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

Khairudin said that the facility highlights the state government's commitment to providing state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, on a par with international sports centres.

Additionally, RM125,000 has been allocated to 45 associations under the state Sports and Recreation Associations for the Disabled (PESRON), aimed at supporting operations, particularly in administration and management.
