KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- The demise of Pope Francis is not only a great loss for Catholics but is also felt by the entire global community that values humanitarianism, justice and global peace said National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.
In the minister’s Facebook post today, he said that Pope Francis had always advocated for issues such as poverty, refugees, social justice, and justice for the people of Gaza.
"Pope Francis was known as a humble and compassionate religious leader who bravely advocated for marginalised voices.
“He embodied the true meaning of unity by calling for interfaith dialogue, respecting diversity, and fostering harmony within cultural and belief diversity. I extend my condolences to the Catholic community around the world on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis," he said.
Quoting Anadolu Ajansi, Pope Francis, the first pope from Latin America, passed away at the age of 88 today.
The late pontiff had previously suffered from long-term illnesses, including "asthma-like respiratory crises" associated with thrombocytopenia.
