TAPAH, April 17 (Bernama) – Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir has been urged to complete his campaign rounds at all 20 Polling Districts (PDM) in Ayer Kuning within the first week to ensure smooth groundwork in defending the state seat.
UMNO War Room Secretariat chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the directive was conveyed to Mohamad Yusri ahead of nomination day on April 12 to avoid time constraints during the final phase of the campaign.
“For the second week, the campaign should revisit the PDMs, but in a more focused manner,” he told reporters after visiting the Batu Tiga PDM here today.
Ahmad said UMNO is also deploying a layered campaign machinery involving local units, supporting divisions, and state-level support teams, aimed at strengthening party presence and outreach at the grassroots level.
The UMNO Supreme Council member said all three tiers play crucial roles, especially in addressing challenges throughout the campaign, including mobilising outstation voters to return and cast their ballots.
The Ayer Kuning state by-election is a three-cornered contest featuring Mohamad Yusri, Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Abd Muhaimin Malek, and Bawani KS from Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM).
Polling is April 26, with early voting to take place on April 22.
