SUNGAI SIPUT, April 24 (Bernama) -- The Public Service Department (PSD) has approved nine new positions - including roles for assistant administrative officers and assistant engineers - to support efficient governance and operations at the Orang Asli One Stop Centre (OAOSC) in Bawong.

PSD director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the operations of the OAOSC in Bawong have had a significant impact on empowering the local population by providing administrative infrastructure, essential facilities, and promoting holistic socio-economic development, particularly for the Orang Asli community.

“As a pilot project, the OAOSC, which began operations in 2022 with a total development cost of RM166.4 million, is equipped with various facilities, including a library, multipurpose hall, automated teller machine (ATM), and bus services,” he said.

“This initiative aims to further enhance the centre’s effectiveness and functionality. The new recruitments, spanning various schemes and grades, are expected to boost service delivery, in line with the aspirations of the MADANI principles.

He said this during a working visit and get-together session with the Orang Asli Community, at OAOSC Bawong, here, today.

Also present were Perak State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim; State Legal Advisor Datuk Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin; State Financial Officer Datuk Mohd Zaki Mahyuddin; and Perak Public Service Commission (SPA) chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Dahlan urged all Tok Batin (Orang Asli village chiefs) in the area to collaborate with civil servants, at both the federal and state levels, to ensure that any emerging issues can be effectively addressed.

“To the civil servants, I encourage you to strengthen your cooperation with the Tok Batins here. They are always working, closely connected to the community, and act swiftly to address the residents’ concerns,” he said.
