SINGAPORE, April 24 (Bernama) -- Eight of the 11 parties contesting Singapore’s General Election 2025 (GE2025) will deliver their campaign messages via free-to-air television and radio on April 25 and May 1.

According to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), these parties have qualified for Party Political Broadcasts (PPBs), which are allocated to parties fielding at least six candidates under a recognised party symbol.

The eligible parties are: the People’s Action Party (PAP), Workers’ Party (WP), Red Dot United (RDU), Progress Singapore Party (PSP), People’s Alliance for Reform (PAR), Singapore Democratic Party (SDP), People’s Power Party (PPP), and National Solidarity Party (NSP).

Independents and political parties fielding less than six candidates are not eligible.

“The duration of airtime allocated for each political party will be based on the number of candidates fielded by it,” the IMDA said in a statement on Thursday.

Two PPBs have been scheduled for GE2025 -- on April 25 and May 1. These broadcasts will be aired across six Mediacorp television channels and 13 radio stations operated by Mediacorp, SPH, and So Drama! Entertainment.

Parties may deliver their campaign messages in any or all of the four official languages: English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil.

The PPBs must also adhere to existing codes of practice for television and radio. This includes ensuring that references to race and religion are presented accurately and in a respectful manner.

Excluding the Marine Parade–Braddell Heights Group Representation Constituency (GRC), where five seats have been secured by the PAP unopposed, a total of 206 candidates will be vying for the remaining 92 seats across 32 constituencies.

Over 2.75 million are eligible to vote when the country heads to the polls on May 3.
