160 COOPERATIVES HAVE RECEIVED INCENTIVES UNDER JEJAK PROGRAMME - SKM CHIEF

KUALA TERENGGANU, April 17 (Bernama) -- A total of 160 cooperatives actively engaged in the tourism sector have received incentives under the Jom Jelajah Koperasi (JEJAK) programme launched in May last year, according to the Cooperative Societies Commission of Malaysia (SKM).

SKM chief executive officer Datuk Rusli Jaafar said that under the JEJAK initiative launched by the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry through SKM, each cooperative received an allocation of RM12,500 for marketing and promotional activities.

He said that in Terengganu, 22 cooperatives have received incentives totalling RM198,000.

"JEJAK is one of the business stimulation programmes aimed at cooperatives involved in the hospitality, healthcare and crafts industries.

"We want the cooperatives affected by COVID-19 to resume operations at an optimal level in preparation for the Visit Malaysia 2026," he said at the Terengganu State Cooperatives “Tautan Mahabbah” event in conjunction with Aidilfitri 2025 here today.

In addition, Rusli said SKM had also channelled assistance totalling RM1.194 million to 18 cooperatives in Terengganu last year.

According to him, this included capital fund financing facilities, development assistance, and entrepreneurship and emergency aid.

"The performance assessment for SKM Terengganu last year was excellent, enabling 39 cooperatives under it to make it to the list of 100 best cooperatives in Malaysia.

"I am confident that with more concerted efforts and various incentives provided by the government, Terengganu will be able to go further and achieve the goal of improving the socio-economic status of the community," he said.
