KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Bernama) -- Petronas Gas Bhd (PGB) has activated its crisis and emergency response teams and swiftly mobilised resources, including volunteers, to assist and support individuals and families affected by the recent gas pipeline fire incident in Putra Heights.
PGB said that since day one, more than 100 staff have volunteered to manage food distribution at the temporary relief centre (PPS), with the company providing approximately 1,000 food packs daily for those impacted at the relief centres and for frontliners on-site.
"Volunteers included PGB employees, some of whom were among the first to assist the Social Welfare Department (JKM) at the PPS.
"These relief centres were established to provide safe, temporary shelter for individuals and families relocated from their homes," PGB said in a statement.
Prioritising safety and the well-being of affected communities, PGB has been working closely with designated hospitals and the Ministry of Health (KKM) to facilitate medical care for victims receiving emergency treatment.
The company said it is collaborating with federal and state governments to channel aid and ease the burden of those impacted by the incident. It is also working with the State Disaster Management Department (JPBN) on additional support such as transit housing post-PPS for those requiring longer-term accommodation.
"For affected communities facing total or partial loss of property, PGB, in collaboration with Prihatin Selangor, has distributed more than RM700,000 in monetary aid.
"Each household will receive either RM5,000 or RM2,500, depending on the extent of their property loss," it said, adding that other Petronas Group entities—namely Petronas Dagangan Bhd and Yayasan Petronas—have also contributed care packs containing essential supplies for displaced individuals and families.
