INDONESIA

1. KPK DEFENDS SLOW PROGRESS IN BANK INDONESIA CSR GRAFT PROBE -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Indonesia’s anti-graft agency defended its slow pace in handling the alleged corruption case involving Bank Indonesia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds, citing “the complexity” of the investigation and the need for further evidence gathering.

 

2. FOOD POISONING CASES MOMENTUM TO IMPROVE MBG: MPR -- ANTARA

Deputy Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Eddy Soeparno stated that the recent food poisoning cases should prompt an evaluation to improve the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. He highlighted the MBG program’s crucial role in meeting the nutritional needs of Indonesia’s younger generation.

1. SEINTALONE MANGOES EXPORTS TO CHINA SUFFER -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The local Seintalone mango variety is facing export hurdles to China that could impact farmers' income this year. On-time shipping, poor road conditions and extreme weather could affect the quality of mangoes. Myanmar produces about 200 mango varieties.

 

2. MANUFACTURING ATTRACTS RM785 MILLION FDI -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Myanmar attracted foreign direct investments (FDI) worth RM785 million (US$182.6 million) into its manufacturing sector in the financial year that ended March 31, 2025. The Myanmar Investment Commission permitted 60 projects from 11 countries, with oil and gas leading the capital expansion.

SENATE PANEL INVITES PM PAETONGTARN TO CLARIFY CASINO POLICY -- THE NATION The Senate’s ad hoc committee studying the establishment of entertainment complexes on Thursday resolved to invite the Cabinet—particularly Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra—to provide policy direction on the casino issue at the next session.

 

2. SUMMONSES 'BACKED BY EVIDENCE' -- BANGKOK POST The Election Commission (EC) defended the summonses it handed to six out of 53 senators suspected of vote-rigging in last year's Senate election, saying it has enough evidence to pursue charges against them.

1. GIA BINH AIRPORT APPROVED AS A CIVIL-MILITARY FACILITY -- VIETNAMPLUS

The Gia Binh International Airport in the northern province of Bac Ninh has been upgraded. It is now elevated from a national defence and security airport to an international-level civil-military infrastructure. 

 

2. VINACHEM TAKES DIGITAL, GREEN STRATEGY ROUTE -- VIETNAMPLUS

The Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) launched its e-commerce platform VinachemMart in Hanoi on Saturday, reflecting its move towards a green and digital transformation strategy. The chemical giant pledged to protect the environment and improve consumer products.
