SINGAPORE, April 15 (Bernama) -- Singapore dissolved its Parliament on Tuesday, paving the way for the country’s 14th General Election within three months.
Nomination day has been set on April 23, according to The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a statement.
The polling date will be announced by the Returning Officer. A Writ of Election is expected to be issued soon.
“President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, on the advice of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, has dissolved Parliament on Tuesday, 15 April 2025,” the PMO statement said.
The polls will see the election of 97 Members of Parliament (MPs) – an increase from the previous 93 elected MPs – following the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee’s recommendation.
Over 2.75 million Singaporeans will be eligible to vote in the coming general elections.
