21 MALNUTRITION TREATMENT CENTRES CLOSED IN GAZA AS ISRAELI AGGRESSION RESUMED - UNICEF

06/04/2025 11:12 PM

RAMALLAH, April 6 (Bernama-QNA) -- Spokesperson for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Kazem Abu Khalaf announced on Sunday the closure of 21 malnutrition treatment centres in Gaza due to the resumption of the Israeli occupation's aggression and the issuance of evacuation orders in the affected areas, Qatar News Agency reported.

Speaking to reporters, Abu Khalaf explained that UNICEF is awaiting the release of a report from the Food Security Classification Commission in the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that the occupation continues to close the crossings with the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of aid, medical supplies, nutritional supplements, and other items for 35 days.

On Saturday, UNICEF stated that more than one million children in the Gaza Strip have been deprived of life-saving assistance for more than a month, noting that the continued denial of aid entry into Gaza constitutes a violation of international humanitarian law and has dire consequences for children.

The UN agency confirmed that it has thousands of aid parcels waiting to enter the Gaza Strip, and that they must be allowed in immediately. It also confirmed that complementary foods for infants in Gaza have run out, and that only enough ready-to-eat milk remains for 400 children for a month.
