KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Young Malaysian rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli has the opportunity to enjoy the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN) grant facility to support his career if he achieves positive results in the two championships he participated this season.
Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said the Junior GP World Championship and MotoGP Rookies Cup were the 17-year-old's evaluation field which is under the control of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
"Hakim Danish is under the SIC talent development programme. I have to discuss with them first. Currently, there is the KWASN grant that is open for individual athletes as long as they participate in tournaments that have a world ranking system, they can apply for and we will give a small grant.
"If Hakim Danish finishes on the podium there would be no problem with the grant but if not there, still he can apply for KWASN," she told reporters at the Malaysian Motor Sports Association (MAM) Aidilfitri Open House here today.
The KWASN is to provide grants for the organisations or participation of tournaments at the national and international levels.
Recently, the Terengganu-born rider created a sensation at the Spanish Grand Prix (GP) of the Rookies Cup after grabbing double podium finishes in races one and two at the Jerez Circuit.
The double success saw Hakim Danish top the race chart with 40 points, ahead of Australian Carter Thompson (38 points) and Spaniard Brian Uriarte (25 points).
