KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- The days of free entry to watch Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia 'live' are over.
Starting from Season 15, which kicks off on April 19, fans will be charged RM10 per entry for the tournament at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, here.
MOONTON Games Malaysia E-sports Lead Fikri Rizal Mahruddin explained that the decision was made to enhance the fan experience and contribute to the growth of the local esports ecosystem in the country.
“So it's basically for us to elevate our fans' experiences…when they see MPL Malaysia, they know for a fact that they are watching a professional, highly entertainment and highly engaged e-sports tournament.
“This is also part of our multi-year strategy to ensure that Malaysia is always seen as a top ecosystem in the world while we are always leading the e-sports ecosystem in the country,” he said during the MPL Malaysia S15 & beyond group interview online today.
Fikri said they are not shying away from exploring something new for MPL Malaysia and the response from the community so far had been quite positive.
He said that ticket sales could play a crucial role in educating fans, encouraging them to invest more in the future, including purchasing team merchandise.
Season 15 will return with the same two-staged format comprising the regular season followed by the playoffs.
The regular season will feature 10 of the nation's top MLBB teams who will compete every week from April 19 to May 25. The top six teams from the regular season will advance to the playoffs.
In season 15, the top two teams will represent Malaysia at the E-sports World Cup x Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scheduled to be held this July.
