KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- Besides focusing on their physical fitness, men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun are also paying more attention to the mental side of their game as they gear up for the 2025 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Ningbo, China from April 8-13.
The world number seven pair are confident that their efforts in getting the services of a psychologist will lead to a positive outcome on the court, come match day.
"The psychologist asked many questions about our thoughts and gave us the freedom to express our feelings. Once we are on the court, we need to be mentally strong and he gave us ideas on how to stay calm during tense moments,” Wei Chong said when met at Akademi Badminton Malaysia (ABM) today.
He added that the championships this time would be their best opportunity to prove their capabilities on a bigger stage, having achieved encouraging results in previous tournaments.
In January, Wei Chong-Kai Wun created history when they marched into the final of the Malaysia Open for the first time by defeating France's Christo-Toma Junior Popov before losing to China's Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi.
At the BAC, Wei Chong-Kai Woon will begin their campaign against UAE's Dev Ayyappan-Dhiren Ayyappan and their first real test should be against 2025 All England runners-up Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin of Indonesia.
