JOHOR BAHRU, May 15 (Bernama) -- The Johor government is closely monitoring high-impact development projects, including flood mitigation works in identified hotspots, to ensure they proceed according to plan.
State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said contractors may be summoned if delays are detected in ongoing projects.
The state has allocated approximately RM100 million this year for more than 10 key projects, some of which are part of preparations for Visit Johor Year 2026.
“Monitoring is carried out monthly, and updates are submitted to the Menteri Besar’s Office to ensure smooth implementation," he told reporters after inspecting the road-widening project at Persiaran Abu Bakar Sultan here today.
Among the projects are the upgrading of Johor Bahru City Council’s Hutan Bandar (RM10.3 million), eco-tourism development in Kampung Sungai Melayu (RM12 million), and Phase Two of the Johor Zoo redevelopment (RM7.3 million).
He said flood mitigation works are also underway in Kampung Mohd Amin (RM9.8 million) and Jalan Dato Sulaiman (RM7.7 million).
Other projects include the RM18.7 million recreational centre at Sungai Lebam in Pengerang and the RM9.3 million expansion of Persiaran Abu Bakar Sultan from four to six lanes, with most of these developments expected to be completed by December this year.
