INNER MONGOLIA, May 14 (Bernama) -- Chinese dairy giant Yili Group is accelerating its regional presence in Asia, backed by strong financial results for the financial year 2024 (FY2024) and growing demand for dairy products across key Southeast Asian markets.

Yili recorded a total revenue of 115.78 billion yuan (US$16.21 billion) for FY2024, cementing its position as Asia’s top dairy producer for the 11th consecutive year and placing it among the world’s top five dairy companies.

According to officials at Yili, its international business showed strength, with overseas ice cream revenue rising by 13 per cent and infant formula revenue surging 68 per cent year-on-year.

“We aim to market more dairy products in Asia this year as we see the rising demand, especially for our yoghurts and ice cream products.

“Flagship brands such as Cremo and Joyday continued to lead in Southeast Asia, ranking among the top three ice cream brands in Indonesia and Thailand,” he said during a visit to Yili Modern Intelligent Health Valley by journalists from the China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) programme recently.

He added that this momentum aligns with Yili’s strategic push in Southeast Asia, where the company has established trading subsidiaries in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Myanmar since 2015 to tap into the region’s rising dairy consumption.

He also noted that artificial intelligence and automation are being used to improve quality and efficiency in milk production.

With a footprint spanning more than 60 countries and regions, Yili has built a comprehensive global network comprising over 2,000 partners in 39 countries, 15 research and innovation centres, and 81 production bases.

Its innovation flagship, the Yili Modern Intelligent Health Valley in Hohhot, remains a cornerstone of the company’s long-term growth vision and forms part of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan to become the ‘Dairy Silicon Valley’ by integrating industrial development with smart city infrastructure.

The project is expected to create 140,000 jobs and drive employment for over 350,000 people by 2035.
