PKR SACKS 28 MEMBERS INCLUDING THREE LEADERS FOR HAVING OTHER PARTY MEMBERSHIP

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) -- PKR has terminated 28 members including three leaders who won in the party's divisional elections after they were confirmed to have membership in other political parties.

PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh said the dismissals were made after a review and confirmation process of membership by the party's Central Leadership Council (MPP).

“Initially, 36 members were identified and the dismissal was confirmed by MPP after the nomination of candidates at the division level was completed, but they (the dismissed individuals) had two weeks to appeal.

“Of that number, only 11 individuals submitted an appeal accompanied by proof of their commitment to the party struggle, they were subsequently reinstated as members,” she said when contacted by Bernama today.

Fuziah explained that follow-up action was also taken after the division election was completed, involving the dismissal of three more party leaders, namely the divisional heads of Jempol and Pasir Salak as well as Besut division Wanita head.

She stressed that the process of confirming each complaint is not easy because most of the evidence submitted were incomplete and the timeline was also unclear.

“We often receive complaints about membership of two or three parties. The first thing I always do is determine which party they last joined.

"If it is not Keadilan, then there is a reason for disciplinary action. Action will only be taken if there is evidence," she said.

The PKR National Congress, including the AMK Congress and the Wanita Congress, is scheduled to take place from May 22 to 24 in Johor Bahru with May 23 set as polling day.
