SEREMBAN, May 9 (Bernama) -- Shopping tourism is seen as a potential draw for more visitors to the state, especially in the run-up to Visit Negeri Sembilan Year (TMNS) 2026, said State Tourism, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Nicole Tan Lee Koon.
She said this included the opening of a new clothing store by renowned brand Uniqlo in Seremban 2, which could further boost the state’s economy.
“So it’s not just the existing tourism products that can attract visitors, but also through shopping tourism.
“Seremban also has many large shopping centres comparable to those in Kuala Lumpur, which can help boost the tourism industry in Negeri Sembilan,” she told Bernama after launching Uniqlo’s first roadside store in the state today.
Tan said Negeri Sembilan recorded 5.5 million tourist arrivals in 2021, which rose significantly to 20 million last year, and the number is expected to increase further next year.
She said the state government would continue efforts to promote Negeri Sembilan more widely and bring a positive economic impact to the local community.
