TAWAU, May 9 (Bernama) -- Community leaders here have described the Sabah MADANI Rakyat Programme 2025 (PMR) as a platform that broadens perspectives and nurtures a culture of innovation for progress across various fields.
Residents of Tawau and nearby districts, including Kalabakan, Kunak, Semporna, and Lahad Datu, are encouraged to attend the programme from today until May 11, as such events are rarely hosted in Tawau.
Kukusan state assemblyman Datuk Rina Jainal said PMR Sabah offers over 200 people-centric services, 36 ministry booths, and various pocket talks, including entrepreneurship, career guidance, and health.
"PMR is highly inclusive, featuring sessions on the economy, advocacy, and security. It would be unfortunate for the people of Tawau and surrounding areas to miss out. The public should explore what PMR has to offer.
"There is also a career carnival, inquiry and complaints booths, traffic summons payment counters, affordable sales, and stalls by local entrepreneurs," she told Bernama.
Rina, the political secretary to the Sabah Minister of Finance, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, said PMR provides valuable information that could spark new business ideas among Tawau residents.
“I’ve attended PMR in several locations, including Likas last year, and public feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with the programme tailored to local community needs,” she added.
Tanjung Batu assemblyman Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy expressed hope for strong public participation from Tawau, Kalabakan, and nearby districts, noting that the PMR initiative is designed for the benefit of the people.
"There are plenty of opportunities for the people - health checkups, traffic summons discounts, affordable sales, information on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, and local vendor products," said the Sabah Assistant Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship.
Sabah Farmers' Organisation advisor Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah said the PMR event offers various benefits to all segments of the community, including farmers.
"With PMR taking place, the local community should make the most of it. Bring your families. There are a variety of activities - not just affordable sales and Agro MADANI, but also children's activities such as quizzes and colouring competitions," he said.
Tawau Municipal Council president Joseph Pang expressed appreciation to the government for selecting Tawau to host the major PMR 2025 event.
“This is a major undertaking, and we are committed to ensuring the programme’s success. It is organised by the Prime Minister’s Department through the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU), in collaboration with the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry,” he said.
Pang highlighted the significance of the event, noting that the public will benefit from direct access to government services, including the National Registration Department, Inland Revenue Board, and Road Transport Department.
“Visitors can apply for assistance, check the status of applications, and verify their eligibility at the relevant booths throughout the three-day programme,” he added.
He said the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is scheduled to officiate the Sabah edition of PMR 2025, will be a major highlight alongside the wide range of activities.
