KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) -- The National Women's Hockey Squad wants to ensure that the tour series in China is best used as a platform to form strong combinations ahead of the 2 Nations Cup scheduled to take place from June 16 to 22 in Walcz, Poland.
Team head coach Mohd Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim said the tour series was the second international assignment this year after the series of friendly matches against South Africa last February.
"For me, it's not just about winning and losing but I want to see everyone's commitment and determination. This is not a fun adventure, this is an opportunity for the players to prove their abilities.
"Our hope is to see the fighting spirit, how the players adapt quickly in the match and not be afraid to make mistakes, but they need to quickly learn from those mistakes," he said in a statement by the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) today.
Mohd Nasihin stressed that the tactical aspect is a priority in this tour series while hoping that the young players can learn quickly and gain as much experience as possible in China.
The Malaysian Tigress will depart for China on Monday (May 5) for seven friendlies against Liaoning Province as well as training sessions arranged by the coaching staff.
The first friendly match will take place on May 7, followed by May 8 and then on May 10 and 11, followed by May 13 and 15 and concludes the tour series on May 17 before returning home the next day.
