KOSOVO PRESIDENT TO VISIT MALAYSIA, HAILS VISA EXEMPTION DECISION

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has expressed her appreciation to Malaysia for the visa exemptions to all citizens of the republic for stays of up to 30 days.

Osmani, in a recent post on her X account, said the decision by Malaysian institutions is meaningful ahead of her official visit to Malaysia next week. 

“This important step, combined with the forthcoming opening of our (Kosovo) Embassy in Kuala Lumpur during my visit next week, is a clear sign that the ties between our two countries are growing stronger by the day,” she added. 

According to Osmani, she looks forward to engaging with state leaders next week as Kosovo and Malaysia work together to deepen cooperation and advance the shared interests of the people. 

Meanwhile, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Donika Gërvalla, stated on her Facebook page that with this decision, Malaysia has been added to the list of countries where citizens of Kosovo can travel without a visa – providing concrete evidence of the country’s international subjectivity and the strengthening of bilateral ties. 

“The Republic of Kosovo welcomes this positive step and expresses gratitude to the Malaysian institutions for their continued cooperation and support in the service of citizens and the ever-strong bilateral ties between our two countries,” she added.

It was reported that Malaysia was among the first countries to recognise Kosovo’s independence following its declaration in 2008.

Media recently reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he will meet the leaders of Pakistan, the Maldives, and Kosovo to discuss challenges in global trade following the United States’ latest imposition of tariffs.
