KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has extended his condolences to the family of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) news journalist Marlia Mohamed, 44, who passed away at 5.45 pm today at her residence in Shah Alam, Selangor.
In a Facebook post, Fahmi also prayed for the late journalist’s family to remain strong and patient in facing their loss.
“Today, I received sad news from friends at RTM. RTM news journalist Marlia Mohamed has returned to the mercy of Allah this evening.
“She was a recipient of the Kasih@HAWANA Fund during the breaking-of-fast ceremony with the Prime Minister at the Seri Perdana Complex last year.
“Let us all pray that her soul is showered with blessings and placed among the righteous. I extend my condolences to her entire family. May they remain strong and patient during this difficult time,” he said.
Earlier, Marlia’s aunt, Sabariah Mohamad, told Bernama that she had been noticeably weak over the past three days.
Marlia is survived by a 16-year-old son.
She began suffering from diabetes after giving birth to her son, and had her left leg amputated up to the thigh due to a bacterial infection in November 2023.
