PAHANG ALLOCATES RM1.66 MILLION FOR HAJJ PILGRIMS

PEKAN, April 20 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,725 prospective hajj pilgrims from Pahang this year received a RM750 cash contribution each to help ease their financial burden in performing the pilgrimage.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the initiative, which began in 2023 with a RM500 contribution per pilgrim, has now been increased to RM750.

“Starting last year, we increased the amount to RM750 per pilgrim. Under the Inisiatif Makmur (IM) religious cluster programme, one of the key efforts we focus on is the Barakah Haji Pahang programme. This time, it involves a total allocation of RM1.66 million,” he said.

He said this after officiating the state-level Premier Hajj Course and the presentation of IM contributions at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al Haj Mosque, here today.

In addition to the pocket money, Wan Rosdy said the state government also provided special food packs known as Juadah Makmur - ready-to-eat meals in retort packaging that are practical, easy to carry, long-lasting, and suitable as provisions for pilgrims.

He also launched a book titled ‘Himpunan Doa Arafah’, which will be distributed to Pahang pilgrims as a spiritual guide for their journey to the Holy Land.

This year, a total of 1,725 prospective pilgrims from the state, aged between 16 and 83, will join 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims for this year’s hajj season.

Wan Rosdy and his family are also scheduled to depart for the Holy Land on May 30 to fulfil the fifth pillar of Islam.
