POLYCC TO HAVE 100 PER CENT WIFI ACCESS IN JUNE/JULY THIS YEAR

KOTA BHARU, April 20 Bernama) -- The Centralised Library System for Polytechnic and Community College (POLYCC) is expected to have 100 per cent WiFi access in June or July this year.

The Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (JPPKK) of the Higher Education Ministry,  in a statement today, stated that to achieve 100 per cent WiFi coverage across campuses by 2025, POLYCC has been included in Phase 2 of the WiFi expansion project under the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by June 2025.

“With the combined allocations from Rolling Plan (RP) 4 and RP5 (of the 12th Malaysia Plan), along with MCMC’s dedicated funding, full WiFi accessibility across all POLYCC campuses is targeted between June and July 2025,” it said.

According to the statement, the allocation under RP4 marks a significant milestone for JPPKK, enabling the implementation of the first phase of the WiFi expansion project.

This phase has benefited seven polytechnics with a total investment of RM9 million and a two-year implementation timeline, with full completion expected this year, it said, adding that upon completion, it is projected to increase overall WiFi coverage to 68 per cent across the campuses.

Through the RP4 allocation, JPPKK also secured RM5 million for the redevelopment of the Polytechnic Information Management System (SPMP) 2.0.

It said the continuation of the WiFi expansion under Phase 2 in RP5 has been identified as a key agenda for JPPKK, with an allocation of RM15.6 million.

This phase will benefit nine polytechnics and is expected to be completed in 2026, with overall WiFi coverage at polytechnics projected to increase to 83.6 per cent.

The RP5 allocation also includes a project to replace obsolete equipment at 16 Community Colleges, with a total cost of RM4.5 million. This initiative is expected to be completed within the year.
