LETHAL COMBINATION OF MYKOLA, AGUERO SINK PENANG FC

TEMERLOH, April 20 (Bernama) -- The formidable partnership of Sri Pahang FC’s Mykola Ahapov and Sergio Fabian Aguero in the final match of the Super League against Penang FC last night managed to give the Elephants a victorious conclusion.

Head coach, Fandi Ahmad said this was because the compatibility shown by the two imported strikers helped his team to tear through the opponents’ defence and create goals.

"The partnership of Mykola and Aguero was quite extraordinary tonight with their accurate passes in their attacks. Mykola's finishing at the opponents’ goal was also effective, he performed very well in the striker position compared to the wing spot he was previously placed," he said.

He said this at a press conference immediately after the match at the Temerloh Municipal Council Stadium here last night which saw Sri Pahang FC beat Penang FC 3-2.

Overall, Fandi said there was an improvement in the performance of his players on the field which allowed them to bring home the three valuable points.

"There were glaring weaknesses in the first half but we managed to gain control of the game in the second half.

"Penang FC is a hard-working team and because of that, there was a fair exchange of attacks and goals," he said.

Meanwhile, Penang FC coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail said he was satisfied with his men's performance despite starting a bit slow.

"The team did not perform like the previous two matches and they gave the opposing players too much space to advance into our area. The goals we conceded could have been avoided and we paid dearly for our carelessness," he said
