MOE BIKERS EMBARK ON 'ZIARAH MADANI’ RIDE TO VISIT STUDENTS, RETIRED TEACHERS

TAIPING, April 12 (Bernama) -- A total of 330 Ministry of Education (MOE) staff, astride their high-powered motorcycles, took part in the "Rides Ziarah MOE Bikerz MADANI” programme here today.

Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh said the programme is an annual community initiative that is held to invigorate the Thank You Teachers Mass Movement and Teacher's Day Celebration.

"The objectives of the MOE Bikerz MADANI programme, which is community-based, is to foster friendship among MOE bikers nationwide, besides drawing close to teachers and retirees around the areas they visit.

"This evening, the bikers will visit the houses of six retired teachers who are ill and present contributions as a sign of appreciation for their services as well as for their welfare,” he said when met at the Ziarah MADANI flag-off at the Taiping Vocational College. 

This morning, they also visited seven schools around Taiping together with Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM) to provide motivation as well as to explain the concept of Malaysia MADANI so that it will be appreciated by teachers and students.

Meanwhile, MOE Bikerz president Ismail Othman said the programme, involving them visiting the ministry's retirees and teachers who have any illness or disease, is to boost their spirits.

He added that some of the schools they visited were Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK) Addiniah, Changkat Jering; Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jelai Batu Kurau; Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Kerian and SABK Maahad Al-Tarbiah Al-Islamiah Changkat Jering.
