IPOH, April 14 (Bernama) -- Perak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy information chief K Novinthen has beaten incumbent and two-term division chief S Kesavan for the position of Sungai Siput PKR division chief in the divisional polls in Perak.
Novinthen obtained 389 votes against the 357 votes garnered by Sungai Siput MP Kesavan out of a total of 901 eligible votes, according to official results from the party’s central election committee.
Novinthen described his win as a huge responsibility that he will use to strengthen divisional leadership and prepare party machinery for the 16th general election.
“The mandate will be fully utilised to bring a breath of fresh air to division leadership, with an emphasis on openess, renewal and uniting members.
“I also will ensure all party wings, including the grassroots, are empowered so that party work is more organised and prepared for the upcoming general election,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
