EARLY AWARENESS OF GLOBAL ISSUES KEY FOR YOUTHS, SAYS DEPUTY MINISTER

18/05/2025 05:21 PM

PADANG BESAR, May 18 (Bernama) -- Youths must be given early exposure and awareness about issues such as climate change to ensure they gain broader knowledge of such global concerns.

Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said this approach is important to cultivate values and attitudes among young people so that they are not limited to local contexts alone but also embrace global values for the future of the nation.

“This needs to be nurtured from an early stage so that the values and attitudes formed are not just based on local contexts but also incorporate global values,” he told reporters after officiating the 2025 National Youth Day celebration for Perlis here today.

At the event, he also presented the 2025 State-Level National Premier Youth Award (APBN), which included individual male and female categories.

Meanwhile, Akmal Nasrullah said he sees great potential in Perlis for the development of renewable energy, as the state is among those that receive the highest amount of sunlight in the country, making it a suitable location for sustainable energy initiatives.

“Perlis is seen as a symbolic state in the development of renewable energy due to its strong potential for solar energy generation,” he added.
