‘SIRAJUS SIYADAH’ BOOK MARKS 25 YEARS OF RAJA PERLIS' REIGN WITH LANDMARK ROYAL SPEECHES

KANGAR, May 16 (Bernama) -- To mark the Silver Jubilee of the Raja of Perlis' reign, a new commemorative book has been launched to honour the monarch’s reign and his reflections on governance, tradition and national resilience.

The ‘Sirajus Siyadah: 25 Years of the Reign of Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail’ was unveiled in conjunction with His Royal Highness’s 82nd birthday.

State Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor said the volume curates 25 of the Raja’s most significant public addresses since 2000, offering a rare glimpse into the royal lens on leadership through moments of national celebration and crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is not merely a collection of royal speeches, but a guiding light that reflects His Royal Highness’ thoughts on governance and his deep connection with the people,” he told reporters after the Wacana Wangsa Jamalullail: Zynatul Muluk discourse event, held to mark the book’s launch here today.

The book was officially launched by Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, who was joined by Raja Perempuan of Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil. Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli was also in attendance.

Nazim explained that the book’s production, a collaboration between MAIPS and the Raja Muda, draws inspiration from Zynatul Muluk, a historical term used during Raja Syed Alwi's 1929 Silver Jubilee. The revival of this term, he said, symbolises the continuity of Perlis’s sovereign legacy.

The event also highlighted Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin’s contributions to strengthening the Malay community, including introducing a Malay-language version of the Federal Constitution.
