FRU TRUCK CRASH: VICTIM SHARED CLIP AS TEAM DEPARTED FOR DUTY

KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- One of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) members who lost his life in a crash on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, this morning, had posted a short video while en route to his assignment at the Chitra Pournami Festival, Menara Condong, Teluk Intan, Perak.

The video clip, lasting less than 20 seconds, with the caption ‘gerak ke Teluk Intan’ (leaving for Teluk Intan), was uploaded by the late Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, on his social media platform. It featured him and his colleagues from Unit 5 Ipoh, all in uniform, aboard the FRU truck, smiling and chatting cheerfully with each other.

The clip was then shared by other social media users, before it went viral.

In the 8.50 am incident, nine members of FRU Unit 5, based in Sungai Senam, Ipoh, were killed, after the truck they were travelling in collided with a lorry loaded with gravel stones on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam, here.

Apart from Akmal Wafi, others who tragically lost their lives in the incident were Sergeant S Perumal; Corporal Nurit Pandak; Corporal Amiruddin Zabri; Corporal Mohd Pozli Jaudin; Corporal Akmal Muhamad; Corporal Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan; Lance Corporal Damarrulan Abdul Latif and Sergeant Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim.

The truck, carrying 18 FRU members, was on its way back to Ipoh after an assignment for the Chitra Pournami celebration in Hilir Perak when the accident occurred.
