KELANTAN CROWN PRINCE URGES STRATEGIC PUSH TO ELEVATE UMK’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOCUS

BACHOK, May 5 (Bernama) -- The Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra, has urged all parties to remain committed to positioning Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) as a leading entrepreneurship-based university through strategic planning and effective implementation.

He said he had been closely following UMK’s progress and achievements throughout 2024, both nationally and internationally, and commended the dedication and hard work of its entire workforce.

“In this era of globalisation, our way of life has transformed significantly - how we work, communicate, and access information.

“These shifts present major challenges for institutions like UMK to stay relevant and competitive, while continuing to produce graduates who can meet current demands and enhance quality of life,” he said.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry delivered the remarks during the Proclamation Ceremony for the Pro-Chancellor and UMK’s 14th Convocation Ceremony at the university’s Bachok Campus today.

He emphasised the importance of continuously evaluating UMK’s ecosystem to ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning. This includes reviewing curriculum relevance, teaching approaches, academic offerings, and research and development activities to stay aligned with the nation’s growth.

“The learning experience at UMK should be future-ready, reflecting 21st-century educational needs. This means incorporating digital lifestyles, technological proficiency, digital tools and services, and knowledge-based work practices,” he said.

Tengku Muhammad Fakhry also congratulated UMK staff and graduates for achieving a 96.7 per cent graduate employability rate last year.
