MADINAH, April 30 (Bernama) -- All prospective Malaysian haj pilgrims will be taken on visits to various historical sites in the holy city of Madinah, as part of Lembaga Tabung Haji’s (TH) efforts to deepen their understanding of the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW, and the early development of Islam.

Madinah Ibadah (worship) manager, Ustaz Mohamad Zahir Hussin @ Yusof, said that pilgrims will be placed in groups and guided by Holy Land Haj Facilitators (PIHTAS), to participate in the activities.

“Pilgrims will visit several historical sites around the Prophet's Mosque, beginning with Saqifah Bani Saidah, followed by Al-Ghamama Mosque and the Abu Bakr Mosque.

He said that the prospective pilgrims will then be brought to the area near the Green Dome, where they will receive guidance on the proper etiquette and procedures for visiting the tomb of Prophet Muhammad SAW, before proceeding to the Al-Baqi Cemetery.

“For the field visit, pilgrims will be taken to historical sites including Quba Mosque, Qiblatain Mosque, Mount Uhud, the Seven Mosques, and a date farm,” he said when met during the TH-organised programme here today.

The first batch of Malaysian pilgrims for the 1446H/2025 Haj season, comprising 284 individuals - 112 men and 141 women - arrived safely at Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, here, yesterday (April 29), at 8.04 am local time.

For this year’s haj season, the Saudi Arabian government has approved a haj quota of 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims, and they are expected to arrive in Madinah and Makkah in stages.

Meanwhile, Mayashashiela Mat Isa, a programme participant, expressed her satisfaction with the explanation provided by PIHTAS.

“The visit was truly impactful. Many of the things I had only read or heard about, I can now see and experience for myself. Being able to visit these historical sites directly makes me feel incredibly grateful,” she said.
