KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 (Bernama) – A total of 586 officers from the public sector, government-linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector were accredited as Certified Integrity Officers (CeIOs) at the 11th Certified Integrity Officers Convocation Ceremony 2025 at the Tun Dr Ismail Hall, World Trade Centre (WTC) here today.

The ceremony, organised by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy (MACA) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), was officiated by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The MACC, in a statement, said the officers concerned were accredited as CEIOs after they completed the four main modules of the CeIO Programme carried out in 2023 and 2024.

The modules are Integrity and Legal Management; Complaints Management, Detection and Verification and Discipline;  Compliance, Strengthening Integrity and Governance; and Formation of Integrity Plans and Corruption Risk Management.

The CeIO Programme was introduced in 2010 following the Prime Minister’s Directive No. 1 of 2009 to strengthen governance and integrity in the public and private sectors, as well as GLCs.

To date, a total of 2,851 officers have been trained.

“The role of Certified Integrity Officers is to plan, implement and monitor the effectiveness of integrity programmes. They also serve as catalysts in fostering a culture of integrity and in preventing corruption, malpractice, and abuse of power among civil servants,” the statement said.

The convocation ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department  (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Murshid Diraja Dr Juanda Jaya and MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Management and Professionalism), Datuk Indera Junipah Wandi.

Meanwhile, Azam, in his keynote address, emphasised that the CelO programme is more than just a training initiative; it also represents the nation’s long-term strategic investment in establishing a transparent, ethical, and corruption-free system of governance.

“The success of the national integrity agenda hinges on the full commitment of all stakeholders, including top leadership, policy implementers, and CelOs, who serve as the key drivers of an integrity-based culture within their organisations,” he said.
