KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Dance Festival 2025, organised by the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry through the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), serves as a platform for choreographers and dancers to learn and present high-quality dance performances.
JKKN director-general Mohd Amran Mohd Haris said the two-day programme, held at the Tunku Abdul Rahman Auditorium, Malaysia Tourism Centre here and concluded yesterday, also aimed to foster greater awareness and responsibility in preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural heritage.
“JKKN remains committed to safeguarding the nation’s cultural heritage in various artistic fields, particularly in dance. This festival also educates the public to better appreciate and love the country’s cultural arts,” he said in a statement.
He said the Malaysia Dance Festival 2025 is a continuation of the zonal-level festival, with eight top dance groups representing various states and zones advancing to the national-level competition.
The festival featured two categories, namely Traditional Dance Medley and Malaysian Creative Dance.
The champion in each category took home RM15,000, while the runner-up and second runner-up received RM10,000 and RM8,000, respectively.
The Best Choreographer and Best Costume awards in each category came with a RM1,000 cash prize, a trophy and a certificate.
