KLSCM 2025 MOVES TO NEW LOCATION

KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM) is set to make its highly anticipated return to the heart of the city for its 17th edition on Oct 4 and 5, with fresh excitement and few notable changes for runners alike.

KLSCM project director Rainer Biemans said this year the event will temporarily shift its traditional start and finish locations from the iconic Dataran Merdeka due to ongoing upgrading and maintenance works scheduled in the area.

Instead, Bieman said the marathon will kick off within the Kuala Lumpur city centre (an exact location yet to be announced) and will conclude at the historical Stadium Merdeka, here.

Bieman was also delighted that Standard Chartered Malaysia has renewed its title sponsorship of the country’s premier distance running event for four more years until 2028.

 “Our shared values and commitment along with the growth of running culture in the country has seen us connect with many running communities over the years and we look forward to taking Malaysia’s premier running event to even higher levels,” he said in a statement today.

Registration for KLSCM 2025 opens tomorrow, with a priority registration window running from April 17 to 21 for those who have competed in at least eight previous editions, as well as faster runners who met the required finishing times in 2023 or 2024.

Public registration opens on April 22 and will remain available until July 31, or until all race slots are filled, whichever comes first.
