KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and its member operators have stepped up humanitarian and operational assistance for victims of the gas pipeline fire victims in Putra Heights, Selangor, by providing on-ground support and claims advisory services.

Representatives from takaful companies were deployed to the temporary relief centre (PPS) at Masjid Putra Heights, where they offered real-time claims advisory and direct aid to affected certificate holders.

Four General Takaful companies — Etiqa General Takaful Bhd, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Am Bhd, Takaful Ikhlas General Bhd, and Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Bhd — were also present alongside their appointed adjusters to facilitate efficient claims processing.

“Victims can submit claims directly at the booths and receive immediate guidance on documentation and eligibility.

“This coordination ensures victims receive prompt and personalised support without the need to travel to branch offices,” MTA said in a statement today.

In conjunction with this outreach, the takaful industry’s collective corporate social responsibility platform, Takaful4All Cares, contributed RM10,000 to Putra Heights Mosque to support the provision of food and essential supplies for victims and volunteers.

The donation was presented by MTA’s Technical Department head Zaifizar Zainal Abidin, to Ustaz Muhammad Khair Zainal, who represented the mosque.

Also in attendance were Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Seri Serdang assemblyman Abbas Salimi Azmi, and Takaful4All Cares’ representative Asri Suratman.

“Through our presence on the ground and this contribution, we reaffirm the values of compassion and mutual responsibility that define the takaful industry,” said MTA chief executive officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed.

MTA said it will continue to work closely with local authorities, mosques and non-governmental organisations to ensure inclusive and coordinated support for those affected.
