SARAWAK DAY EDITION OF GASTRONOMY FESTIVAL TARGETS 20,000 VISITORS

KUCHING, May 17 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with this year’s Sarawak Day celebrations, the Nyamai Sarawak Gastronomy Festival 2025: Sarawak Day Edition will be held from July 26 to 27, at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the festival, organised by the Sarawak Gastronomy Association, aims to attract 20,000 visitors and 200 vendors over the two-day event.

“For this year’s edition of the festival, we aim to introduce more creativity by involving people from various industries, as we don’t want to see the same participants all the time, especially those only related to food.

“We want to see creativity among youths, such as using raw materials like bamboo and other green leaves, which can be transformed into useful products. For instance, some edible leaves can help people sustain their health,” she said at a press conference announcing the event, here, today.

Originally established as a gastronomy-focused celebration, the festival has since evolved into a platform which brings together Sarawakians and visitors through food, culture, and innovation.

Nancy, who is also the Member of Parliament for Santubong, said that the festival provides businesses with a valuable platform to connect with a broad audience while taking part in one of Sarawak’s most prominent cultural events.

She added that admission to the festival will be free, offering the perfect opportunity for families to come together and create lasting memories.
