KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 (Bernama) -- Eighty UniMAP personnel from various management levels attended a course on protocol, social etiquette, and effective communication to enhance professional and interpersonal skills.

UniMAP said the two-day course was organised by the Corporate Communication Centre through its Protocol and Corporate Relations Unit, and held from May 8 at its Kampus Alam in Perlis.

“Conducted by CuteCarry Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Hafiz Mustapha, the course provided participants with practical exposure and training on formal and informal social conduct in line with organisational culture, professional norms and the etiquette of a diverse society.

“This initiative reflects UniMAP’s commitment to nurturing a workforce that excels not only in technical competencies, but also in professional conduct, discipline and courteous communication,” the university said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in the same statement, UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaliman Sauli stressed the importance of mastering protocol and social etiquette in preserving the image and reputation of the institution, particularly when engaging with local and international stakeholders.

“As a university that consistently engages with students, parents, government agencies, industry players and key stakeholders, including the royal household and ministries, we must possess strong social etiquette and protocol skills to ensure our interactions remain professional, courteous, and well-structured,” he said.

He expressed hope that participants, particularly deans and heads of departments, would take the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and fully benefit from the knowledge imparted.

The course was also attended by UniMAP’s deputy vice-chancellors, senior university officials, faculty deans, department heads, and director of the Corporate Communication Centre, Muhamad Azuan Mohamad Nasir, as well as representatives from its various associations.
