KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- Anlene, Malaysia's leading adult milk powder brand, today launched its latest product, Anlene CholestoPro, a dual-action formula designed to help reduce cholesterol and support mobility.
Fonterra Brands Malaysia and Singapore General Manager Ganesh Thiagarajan said the launch was driven by growing health concerns among Malaysian adults, particularly regarding non-communicable diseases such as high cholesterol and a lack of physical activity.
“Nearly 7.5 million adults, or 33.3 per cent of the population, have high cholesterol, yet one in two remain unaware of their condition.
“Additionally, National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023 showed that 54.4 per cent of adults are overweight or obese, further contributing to the risk of cholesterol-related health issues,” he said in a statement today.
Ganesh also noted that poor bone, joint and muscle health can restrict physical activity, which increases the risk of weight gain and high cholesterol, which may contribute to the development of heart disease.
According to Ganesh, Anlene CholestoPro is formulated with 1.2 grammes of plant sterols, scientifically proven to reduce bad cholesterol levels (LDL), along with calcium, vitamin D, high protein, collagen, minerals and other nutrients that will support both mobility and cholesterol management.
“Anlene CholestoPro is not just about reducing cholesterol, it is about ensuring Malaysians have the strength to keep doing what they love for longer,” he said.
In the same statement, Dr Azura Abas, who holds an MBBS, along with an MSc in Medical Physiology, said many don’t realise that high cholesterol significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease due to cholesterol buildup in the arteries, which can lead to blockages, heart attacks and other serious complications.
“High cholesterol is often the result of unhealthy lifestyle choices, such as not getting enough exercise, not eating a balanced diet or consuming large amounts of saturated fats.
“But the good news is that we can take control. By staying active, eating well and incorporating cholesterol-lowering foods like plant sterols, we can make a significant impact on our cholesterol management,” she said.
To celebrate the launch of Anlene CholestoPro, Anlene is hosting the “Anlene Get Active, Let’s Move” roadshow, offering Malaysians free bone scans and muscle strength tests.
Furthermore, Anlene is partnering with Sunway Multicare and Avometer, offering complimentary cholesterol checks, reinforcing its commitment to better cholesterol management.
