KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil congratulated the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) for receiving the Best Media (Agency) Award at the 2025 National Labour Day celebration held at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here today.
He said the achievement reaffirmed Bernama’s credibility as the country's official news agency and also brought honour to the Communications Ministry.
“Congratulations to Bernama. This not only elevates Bernama’s standing but also the Ministry of Communications. Keep up the efforts, keep working," he told Bernama when met after the event.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim presented the award to Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin.
Bernama took home a trophy and RM10,000 in cash.
The award was among two new categories introduced by the Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA).
The Best Media (Agency) Award recognises the outstanding role of media agencies in delivering accurate, timely and trustworthy information to the public through various news platforms.
A total of 12 recipients were honoured this year, including the newly introduced Public Sector National Worker Icon Award (Senior Management), awarded to Deputy Director-General of Education (School Operations Sector) Zainal Abas.
Also present at the celebration were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong and other Cabinet ministers.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and heads of various agencies also attended.
With the theme ‘Pekerja Kesuma Bangsa’, this year’s celebration recognises the vital role of workers as the backbone of the country and key drivers of sustainability, justice and well-being.
Over 10,000 workers from various sectors, including public and private agencies, enlivened the event.
