TALENTBANK UNVEILS HIGHLY ANTICIPATED 2025 EMPLOYERS’ CHOICE OF UNIVERSITY LIST

23/04/2025 01:41 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s leading authority on graduate employability, Talentbank, has announced its highly anticipated 2025 Employers’ Choice of University list, highlighting institutions whose graduates are most sought after by top employers nationwide.

The launch, held recently at EQ Kuala Lumpur, was officiated by Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, reflecting the government’s continued focus on aligning higher education with industry needs.

Distinct from traditional academic rankings, the Employers’ Choice list is driven solely by real hiring data provided by Malaysia’s leading companies.

Among the employers contributing to the data are Maybank, CelcomDigi, CIMB, Nestlé, Hartalega, PwC Malaysia, PETRONAS, Public Bank, Sunway, Standard Chartered Bank, BDO, DKSH Malaysia, AIA Berhad, Telekom Malaysia, Generali Insurance Malaysia, Western Digital, and more.

The insights are drawn from Talentbank’s National Graduate Employability Index, which applies a three-tiered methodology: identifying universities targeted by employers, measuring graduate hiring volume and tracking repeat hires based on graduate performance.

“By leveraging Talentbank’s National Graduate Employability Index, school leavers can confidently select universities renowned for producing highly employable graduates. This significantly enhances their chances of securing employment upon graduation,” said the company in a statement.

Among public universities, top employer preferences include Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

Employers also singled out standout private institutions such as Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, IMU University, and Universiti Teknologi Petronas for producing industry-ready graduates.

These universities are consistently recognised for equipping students with the skills and competencies needed to excel across diverse sectors.

Commenting on the recognition, Talentbank CEO Ben Ho said: “It is encouraging to see the remarkable strides made by both public and private universities in preparing graduates for the job market.”

As part of its 15th-anniversary celebration, Talentbank also unveiled the Career Playbook, a forthcoming guide designed for school leavers, university students, and young graduates.

The Career Playbook provides strategic guidance on choosing the right university, identifying high-growth industries, developing in-demand employability skills and mastering the job application process.

"For 15 years, Talentbank has passionately dedicated itself to enhancing graduate employability across Malaysia,” said Ho, reflecting on the milestone.

“Through initiatives like the Employers’ Choice of University List and our newly launched Career Playbook, we remain committed to guiding students and families towards informed educational and career decisions, ultimately empowering them to confidently enter the competitive job market.

“We invest in research to find out which universities employers are hiring from. I hope school leavers and parents can use this as their guide to enrol in the universities that will land you a job quickly,” he added.

Sunway University has maintained its position as Malaysia's top institution for Graduate Employability for four consecutive years, solidifying its reputation for producing highly sought-after graduates.

The university excels in fields such as Business, Accounting, Computer Science, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Communication and Psychology, setting a high standard for quality education in the private higher education sector.

Similarly, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has earned strong recognition from employers for consistently producing outstanding graduates in areas like Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Actuarial Science.

With its robust academic programmes, UTAR has firmly established itself as a leading private university in Malaysia.
