IPOH, April 15 (Bernama) -- The opening of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) session today began with a moment of reflection to honour and commemorate the late Ayer Kuning state assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin who passed away on February 22.
The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah, when beginning his Royal Address at the Official Opening Ceremony of the Third Year of the 15th Perak State Assembly, asked Muslim state assemblymen to recite Surah Al-Fatihah as a mark of respect and remembrance for all the services rendered by the deceased.
"Ishsam's passing at the age of 58 is a great loss to the state of Perak, this Assembly, the world of football, the people of Ayer Kuning, especially to the widow, Puan Rozita Abdullah and two of the deceased's children, Isnabil and Iszul Imadi.
"May the deceased's soul be blessed with the grace of God, and be placed among the souls of the righteous, I along with the Raja Permaisuri and members of this House, express our condolences to Puan Rozlita Abdullah and the members of the deceased's family; may they be given the strength to accept God's will," said His Highness.
Ishsam died after collapsing while playing football at the Bandaraya Stadium, Penang on February 22.
The deceased, an UMNO candidate contested in the Ayer Kuning state seat in the 15th general election and won the seat with a majority of 2,213 votes.
