KPJ OPENS KUALA SELANGOR SPECIALIST HOSPITAL, EXPANDS SPECIALIST CARE ACCESS BEYOND CITIES

14/04/2025 07:29 PM

KUALA SELANGOR, April 14 (Bernama) -- KPJ Healthcare Berhad today launched its 30th hospital, KPJ Kuala Selangor (KPJKS) Specialist Hospital, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to private specialist healthcare in Malaysia’s rapidly growing communities, particularly beyond the major city centres.

KPJ Healthcare Bhd president and managing director, Chin Keat Chyuan, said that the hospital, which began operations on March 22 this year, offers a wide range of services across multiple medical disciplines, including internal medicine; general surgery; orthopaedics; paediatrics; obstetrics and gynaecology; ENT; ophthalmology; radiology; anaesthesiology; gastroenterology and hepatology.

“The hospital currently operates with 14 resident consultants and eight sessional consultants, supported by a dedicated team of 188 personnel, including medical officers, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff,” he said, during a press conference after the launch, here, today.

Also in attendance were Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and KPJ Healthcare chairman Tan Sri Dr Ismail Bakar.

Chin said that the 60-bed facility is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment infrastructure, including a 1.5 Tesla MRI system, a 160-slice CT scanner, full-field digital mammography, and the Super Inductive System (SIS) – an advanced, non-invasive pain management therapy, which uses high-intensity electromagnetic fields.

He added that other key features of the hospital include four ICU beds, two fully equipped operating theatres, a scope room, and dedicated daycare beds.

Meanwhile, Dzulkefly, who officiated the launch, welcomed the opening of this new healthcare facility, noting that it will complement the nearby Tanjong Karang Hospital, which is just eight kilometres away. He emphasised that both institutions play vital roles in serving the public.

“As we know, we have a hospital service outsourcing programme (HSOP), and I can see that the latest and most advanced technology is available here,” Dzulkefly said.

“In my view, we will be able to leverage this facility through cooperation and synergy, which will help address the long waiting times at public hospitals, particularly at Tanjong Karang Hospital, a minor specialist hospital.

Dzulkefly also said that KPJKS is expected to serve not only the Kuala Selangor district, but also extend its services to the Muallim district in Perak, should the need arise.

Designed with care and functionality in mind, KPJKS offers a modern healing environment, complete with thoughtful interiors and natural surroundings, ensuring that both patients and healthcare teams enjoy comfort alongside clinical excellence.

The opening of KPJKS reflects the group’s evolving strategy under the KPJ Health System, an integrated approach which combines clinical care, medical education, and research excellence across KPJ Healthcare’s nationwide network.
