11/04/2025 09:41 PM

KUANTAN,  April 11 (Bernama) -- The federal government has agreed to proceed with the preliminary works for five priority projects in Pahang, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

He said these five projects include the construction of the Bukit Rangin elevated interchange, the Kuantan-Chukai road (FTO3), the upgrading of the FT012 Kuantan-Segamat road spanning 51 kilometres, and Package Six of the Central Spine Road between Karak and Simpang Pelangai in Bentong.

Anwar said the other two projects are the upgrading of the road from Kampung Padang to the East Coast Highway 1 traffic light junction (Phase 2) and the construction of a new Type 7 Health Clinic with 10 units of Class F quarters at Pos Lenjang in Kuala Lipis.

He said the decision was made during a special meeting on the development of Pahang, which he chaired alongside Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and the state leadership.

Also present at the meeting were Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.

“In the meeting, I was presented with various development projects and long-term plans covering key infrastructure aspects such as roads, flood mitigation, healthcare, manufacturing and housing.

“I have agreed to the proposal to start the preliminary works for the projects that are a priority in Pahang,” he said in a Facebook post tonight.

Anwar said he believes careful planning and execution of the proposed projects will not only benefit the people of Pahang but also contribute to the overall development of the country.

He also stressed to the state leadership the importance of rapidly enhancing performance and reinforcing the principles of 'good governance' to ensure continued progress and elevate both the state and the nation to greater heights.

Anwar also said that aside from looking into the development project plans, the meeting also reviewed the latest number of hardcore poor individuals in Pahang, a situation that is expected to be eradicated by the end of this month.
