‘COFFEE TRAILS OF PERAK’ TO HELP EXPAND COFFEE ENTREPRENEURS' MARKET - SAARANI

TAPAH, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Coffee Trails of Perak tourism package will not only promote the local coffee industry but allows small scale entrepreneurs to introduce their products to a wider market.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the programme was a creative approach in introducing Perak through a ‘coffee’ culture, which is currently popular among youth.

“It not only promotes coffee as a tourism product, but strengthens the economy of local communities involved in producing coffee, operating cafes and coffee plantations,” he said during his speech at the Digital Perak Tour: Smart Tourism and the Coffee Trails Of Perak promotional materials handover in Taman Tasik Temoh here today.

The state government, through Tourism Perak, will publish a guide entitled Coffee Trails, which showcases 80 authentic coffee shops in the state, and will promote the package on Tourism Perak and Tourism Malaysia’s official websites.

Kek dan Kopi by Deewa Deewi owner Nurasyikin Jamaludin, 36, said the initiative provided local entrepreneurs with a huge opportunity to build their brand and look for new markets.

“Previously, we depended a lot on social media, but this programme gives us the chance to meet customers, especially tourists, who have never known our products,” she said.

Meanwhile KOPIJA brand owner Noor Hafizah Che Hassan, 37, said being involved in the programme allowed her to introduce her coffee products to communities in other districts and states.

“When people see us involved in tourism programmes, they will know us better. It’s a form of free advertising for us, she said, adding that her sales rose after her involvement.

Saarani had announced an additional allocation of RM150,000 during the event, bringing the total to RM300,000 for upgrading public amenities in Taman Tasik Temoh, including the building of a gazebo and a reflexology area due to the rising number of visitors.
