KANGAR, April 11 (Bernama) -- Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail Mosque today, which will be built next to the Perlis state legislative assembly complex here.
Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, the Raja’s youngest son, Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Al-Haj Jamalullail, and Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli were also present for the event.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin shared that the groundbreaking ceremony was part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations as Raja of Perlis and to commemorate his 82nd birthday.
"I see this as an honour and a duty to ensure the continued spiritual and physical development of Muslims in this state,” His Royal Highness said, as he expressed his hope that the mosque would be a symbol of Muslim development and a landmark signifying the state’s efforts in upholding Islamic religious institutions.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin stressed that the mosque would serve as a legacy of his reign, in which he stressed a balance between spiritual and physical development, and conveyed his appreciation to the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), the Perlis Islamic Religious Affairs Department, the Perlis Mufti’s Department, the Public Works Department and all parties who worked hard in making the construction of the mosque a success.
