IPOH, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 1,839 cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth RM183,318.20 believed to be stored without a permit in a raid in Teluk Intan, yesterday.
Its enforcement director in Perak, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said the raid was conducted based on a week of intelligence gathering and monitoring.
“Following inspection, it was found that the premises were owned by a 42-year-old local man. There were 1,325 units of LPG cylinders of various brands as well as 514 units of empty LPG cylinders of various brands stored there.
“The store owner failed to produce any letter of authorisation, license or permit to store the controlled goods when requested by the inspection team,” he said in a statement, today.
Kamalludin said the case would be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for possessing or storing scheduled controlled goods without written permission from the authorities
He said strict action would be taken against any individual found to be involved in activities or syndicates that misappropriate controlled goods.
The public is urged to be the eyes and ears of the authorities and to channel information regarding such activities to the Perak KPDN via the e-aduan@kpdn.gov.my portal or the Ez Adu KPDN smartphone application.
