KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 (Bernama) -- Teach For All, a global network of over 60 independent, locally led and funded partner organisations, launched its Global Institute for Shaping a Better Future on April 8 in Singapore.

This new centre will focus on global learning, evidence generation, and leadership development, aimed at transforming education systems worldwide to equip students to shape a better future.

In a statement, Teach For All chief executive officer and co-founder, Wendy Kopp expressed the organisation's belief in the crucial role of educators in guiding the world towards a better future.

She noted that the institute will provide a platform for learning across borders, allowing educators, students, and advocates to collaborate globally, with a greater reach beyond the current network.

The Global Institute has a bold vision to create a movement of 10,000 change-makers across 100 countries by 2035. Its goal is to drive systemic shifts in education to address global issues such as climate change, inequality, and economic disruption, with a focus on holistic student development, particularly for marginalised communities.

While the Institute’s impact will be worldwide, it will be based in Singapore, leveraging the city's position as a global hub for learning and innovation. The support of Singapore's educators and regional partners will help strengthen the institute's global network and evidence base.

The establishment of the Global Institute is backed by significant funding, including a US$10 million pilot phase fund from the Asia Community Foundation, with pledges from =DreamsAsia and Grab. This support reflects a shared commitment to advancing education and fostering holistic student development globally. (US$1=RM4.47)

The institute will offer three key contributions to the global education landscape, which are facilitating global learning among education practitioners, translating evidence into practical solutions, and fostering collective leadership for systemic change, as addressing complex challenges requires new approaches to leadership and collaboration.

The launch coincides with a Global Forum for Shaping a Better Future, bringing together nearly 200 education leaders, policymakers, researchers, students, teachers and philanthropists to discuss how to reshape education for a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.
