IPOH, April 9 (Bernama) -- The state government will ensure the welfare of four orphaned siblings, who lost their parents in an accident in Gopeng two years ago, is safeguarded so that they can continue their education without any problems.
State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah said the decision was made following discussions with several related agencies, including Yayasan Perak, Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK), and Perak Education Department.
“We were informed that the eldest sibling previously received an offer to study at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) but had to turn it down due to financial constraints. Since she did well in her SPM exam, we’ll help her get into a public university.
“As for the second sibling, we’ve suggested that PASAK help him enrol in a community college or Giat MARA Centre, since we were told he has a strong interest in the automotive field,” he said when met at the launch of the Perak National Sports Council Hydrotherapy Pool and the handing over of grants to state sports associations here today.
Khairudin said the third and fourth siblings would be placed in appropriate schools to ensure they could complete their primary and secondary education.
“We are considering placing the third child in a suitable fully residential school and he will also receive pocket money through Yayasan Perak’s Hijrah Insaniah Programme, which supports students from B40 households.
“As for the youngest, who is currently studying at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tronoh, we plan for her to continue her education there under the care of her grandmother and uncle,” he added.
Khairudin said that although the siblings, aged between 9 and 20, were currently receiving aid from the Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk), it was not enough to support their education.
Earlier, the four siblings, Nur Fatin Syafika Mohd Ramddan, 20; Muhammad Ikman, 19; Muhammad Aiman Daniel, 15; and Nur Fatihah, 9, went viral on social media after reports surfaced claiming they were being neglected and living in poor conditions at their late parents’ house in Kampung Serkai Jadi, Tronoh.
The siblings lost their parents, Mohd Ramddan Abd Rahim, 44, and Kisdalliana Saad, 43, in a car crash on July 10, 2023, while they were returning from sending their eldest daughter to register at the Perak Matriculation College in Gopeng.
