WATSONS MALAYSIA LAUNCHES POP-UP CAFÉ TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with Earth Month this April, Watsons Malaysia has launched the Naturals by Watsons Pop-Up Café, an immersive initiative aimed at promoting sustainable beauty and eco-conscious living.

Held from March 25 to April 28 outside Fahrenheit 88, Bukit Bintang here, the pop-up offers customers a unique experience featuring refill stations, educational workshops, exclusive promotions and sustainability-focused activities.

“This year, we are excited to relaunch Naturals by Watsons with a new and upgraded range committed to sustainability, featuring 12 product lines, from body care to hair care,” said Caryn Loh, Managing Director of Watsons Malaysia and Chief Operating Officer of Health & Beauty Asia, AS Watson Group.

“As part of this relaunch, we are introducing the Naturals by Watsons Pop-Up Café, an immersive lifestyle experience that goes beyond just retail. The café offers a space for customers to engage, learn and shop while embracing our core values of health, beauty and sustainability,” she said.

The new Naturals by Watsons range is 100 per cent vegan, dermatologically tested and formulated with over 95 per cent natural-origin ingredients. The packaging is made from 100 per cent recycled ocean-bound plastic, and selected products contain 60 per cent certified sustainable palm oil.

To further encourage green practices, the cafe includes refill stations for products like Aloe Shower Gel and Coffee Shampoo, as well as weekend workshops for upcycling crafts such as aroma stones and macrame wood rings. Customers spending RM30 and above in a single receipt at the café can join these activities.

Shoppers can also enjoy storewide promotions, including 20 per cent off, a free 100ml travel-size shampoo with a minimum spend of RM80, and a jute bag with two travel-size shampoos for purchases of RM150 and above.

Eco-conscious activities at the pop-up include posting on social media to receive a free engraved wooden keychain, exchanging an empty PET bottle for a 100ml lavender shower gel, and visiting the ‘Scent Bar’ to receive a complimentary scented coaster card, with all redemptions limited to a first-come, first-served basis daily.

The initiative is supported by Waste Management Association Malaysia (WMAM), local non-governmental organisation HARA Makers and university students, with installations such as a sustainability mural and giant product sculpture made from recycled Naturals by Watsons bottles and Watsons single-use plastic bags.

“As part of its long-term sustainability goals, Watsons Malaysia is committed to achieving 100 per cent sustainable packaging for all Watsons Brand products within the next five years.

“This initiative aligns with Watsons’ global sustainability mission and is further strengthened by its partnership with ClimatePartner to actively reduce carbon emissions and promote greener retail practices,” Loh added.

The launch was attended by Watsons Malaysia’s top management, sustainability partners from WMAM and HARA Makers, regional representatives from Hong Kong, Thailand and the Philippines, along with Watsons Ambassador Ayda Jebat and other celebrity friends.

Watsons Malaysia has been driving sustainable product offerings for over 14 years across nine key markets. In 2024, the brand was recognised with a Highly Commended award for ‘Best All Green Brand’ at the Global Green Beauty Awards.
