TAPAH, April 8 (Bernama) -- The Community Communications Department (JKOM) reached out to some 200 members of the Orang Asli community through the Komuniti Rakyat MADANI Pilot Programme, held in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

JKOM director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop said the community outreach initiative was first conducted in Perak and would be expanded to other states throughout the year.

“Apart from Perak, the programme will be carried out in Melaka and Pahang, with JKOM being given the mandate by the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) to act as the coordinator.

“The programme held at the GOF (General Operation Force) Third Battalion camp in Bidor today focuses on fostering closer ties and improving communication between the community, particularly the Orang Asli, and the government through a collaborative approach,” he said when met at the programme.

The programme was attended by 300 people, including members of the General Operations Force (GOF), the Orang Asli community, and local residents.

Also present were deputy Dewan Rakyat speaker Datuk Dr Ramli Mohd Nor and Finance Minister’s political secretary Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim.

According to Ismail, the programme was also organised to ensure that the government’s policies were accessible to the people, including those in rural areas, and to provide them with access to accurate information.

Meanwhile, Ramli urged the Orang Asli community to prioritise education, as it was key to changing their fate.

“….the MADANI Government fully covers the education of the Orang Asli community, from primary school to university, from A to Z, and we aim to reduce dropouts as much as possible,” he said.
